Progress Update as of March 10, 2012
I am happy to report that my effort to introduce the Fire Wise Community program to Lake Arrowhead is moving along extremely well.
On Tuesday, March 06, 2012 I made two presentations. One at the Governmental Affairs Committee of our chamber of commerce and one at out Noon Rotary Club (yes, we have two active Rotary Clubs in Lake Arrowhead, the other will follow soon).
At the Chamber of Commerce meeting, the Chairperson introduced a two part motion after my talk .... to support my effort in getting the communities certified and to pass this effort on to the full board of the Chamber for adoption.
The 40 some members of the Rotary Club were thrilled by the idea and my effort and are also in full support.
So far I have been able to introduce and educate a number of community organizations on the Fire Wise Program. Surprisingly no one even knew about the availability of the Fire Wise Community certification program. The following organizations support my effort:
1. Mountain Jewish Community
2. Lake Arrowhead Soroptimists International
3. Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD)
4. Noon Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead
5. Safe Our Forest Association (SOFA)
6. San Bernardino Mountain Land Trust
7. Sierra Club (San Bernardino Mountain Chapter)
8. Lake Arrowhead Chamber of Commerce
Still to come later this months are:
1. Arrowhead Woods Architectural Committee (AWAC - largest regulatory body for land use and construction)
2. Sunrise Rotary Club of Lake Arrowhead
3. Possibly one more community organization
4. San Bernardino County Fire (Mountain Division)
Once the Introduction Phase is completed I will commence with phase two .... form a Fire Wise Committee that, ideally, will include one member of each of the organizations listed. This should happen by mid April.
Once the committee is established we will be able to arrange for a Fire Wise representative to visit the Lake Arrowhead area by the end of April.
A website for the Fire Wise Committee has been established and can be accessed here ...

Once some basic cash flow has been established for the committee the registered domain name will change to .org.
